Having perused the first volume - "Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: Organization, Support and Movement, and Control Systems of the Human Body" - I'm quite impressed. The illustrations and photographs are bountiful, having the appearance of clarity. I had to get EZ-Anatomy and Physiology to support my need for a high level view, and now I only use the Tortora book for the excellent illustrations and the boxed lists of things to remember. I won't read it any longer. It just confused the hell out of me and makes me feel like I'm drowning.
The authors of the book, Tortora & Derrickson try their best to explain difficult concepts to the reader in a way that isn't super complex, but relatively reasonable.

Start by marking Principles of Anatomy and Physiology as Want to Read: Want to Read savin. ant to Read. Also, others recommend photographic ones like Rohen's Color Atlas of Anatomy. The benefit of Rohen's is it includes actual photos of dissected cadavers, prosections, and so on. But the problem with Rohen's is that it doesn't go as in-depth or get as detailed as Netter's or other atlases. I'm using this book for my Anatomy and Physiology class and as far as text books go this one is pretty good. I find it informative, easy to use and interesting. Also I appreciate all the anecdotes that relate it to real life and current clinical practices.
Reading this book has helped me develop an understanding for Human Anatomy and Physiology. This is a GREAT BOOK and I recommend it to anyone interested in Anatomy and Physiology of the Human body. 15 people found this helpful. With the in depth explanations of processes the body undergoes, thought out thorough definitions, and diagrams, pictures and tables to make connections to the readings; all have yet to cease to impress me as I continue to read the book. This binder version is more affordable than the hard copy and comes with the same quality work inside.
