I have been a Human Resource executive for many years, and I took the workshop to help managers identify and help troubled workers. Many of the employees in my dept. were women, and I was noticing a pattern of problems such as chronic lateness, oversensitivity to criticism, inability to socialize in the office and frequent use of personal and sick days. Until I took the training from Dr. LeslieBeth Berger (she uses her married last name now-LeslieBeth Wish), I had no idea these symptoms were common markers of typical problems of women with a history of childhood abuse. After the workshop, I posted a summary of the book and workshop materials and offered my employees a chance to request more information anonymously. I was shocked at the number of requests.

The book is clearly written and it details several types of work and career styles. As an executive, what was very helpful to me was applying my new knowledge of these styles to my hiring and training of employees. Some of the styles that were most useful to me are the Dabblers, at one end of the scale, who job-hop frequently and have low tolerance for stress; the drones, in the middle of the scale, who are reliable but have trouble with change; and the drivers, at the far end of the scale, who are so driven to achieve that they can't tolerate making mistakes.

I found these styles fit many of the department's employees. Understanding their needs and fears allowed me to interview, hire, delegate and supervise more wisely. Dr. Berger (Wish) is a strong, empowering educator who genuinely cares. I found her book extremely helpful, and the female employees benefited from the book tremendously. I give it five stars. She mentioned she is doing research now for her next book on highly successful women and their relationships. I checked out her website at [...] and that was useful too.

As a Corporate Trainer for the past 10 years, I stumbled upon this book and found it really helped me deal with some problems of the women I was training who had a background of child abuse.
The booked was passed around so many times between them, they all said it was an amazing help to them.
Beautifully written and a great help in understanding the child abuse effects on woman.
