If you want to design vessels that go fast in the water, you want this book. We used it in my University of Michigan Naval Architect and Marine Engineering coarse on high speed design. It is a very useful book and you don't need a lot of naval background to understand it.

I bought the book for my research in planing crafts. In a single volume it covered everything I wanted to know about the planing crafts. The book is particularly useful in conceptual design phase because the author does not rely on expensive CFDs to do the modeling. I'm working on the dynamic planing behaviour of seaplanes and the linear state space model given in the book proved to be an excellent starting point. I'm very grateful to the author because I have been having a hard time collecting scattered literatures on the subject which lacked a coherent exposition.
