Commodore VIC20 has become the successor to pretty popular Commodore PET. The Commodore VIC 20 was equipped with the same processor as in the PET model and the same version of BASIC. However, the processor of MOS Technology was very popular in the early 80s. VIC 20 has become very popular too. The company managed to sell over a million units of this model. The model name is derived from the stacked abbreviations VIC (Video Interface Chip – graphical interface chip, designed to handle the graphics in this particular model) and storage capacity (5KB of RAM + 15 KB ROM).
