After receiving his P. in Physical Chemistry in 1997, he went as a postdoc to Santa Barbara, California working on physicochemical aspects of myelin and lung surfactant. Back in Mainz he investigated nanostructured lipopolymer films.

As a professional chemist (PhD) I own about 300 books on various subjects. This book is unique and the gem on my shelf. These authors have written a lucid and didactic book unlike any physical chemistry text I have ever read. Instead of inserting equation 345 into equation 239 giving equation 459, these authors begin by asking a question -then proceed to answer it explaining every step along the way. I will look for any and all offerings by these gifted scientists and writers.

Not a very good textbook although the subject matter is good and the fact that it's paperback is all the more reason it should have been much less expensive than what it is.

The book is fantastic. Covers every subject with proper depth. Account many practical examples, their problems at the end of each chapter are very well prepared. A textbook for surface chemistry.
