I found Biostatistics in Public Health highly effective for teaching introductory biostatistics, and students were universally positive in their feedback on the text, including its many practice problems. This book is most remarkable for its clarity and conciseness in covering all of the topics at just the right depth for an introductory course. A particular strength of the book is that it organizes hypothesis testing and other statistical procedures EXPLICITLY in terms of the kinds of samples and variables to which they apply, which has the very practical effect of teaching, right from the beginning, which statistic applies to which kind of problem.

Yes, it's a textbook. Even though my last previous statistics course was sometime in the first Clinton administration, I found this book's lessons and instructions easy to follow and very helpful in the classroom. There is an online supplement to the book, but as far as I could find out, Yes, it's a textbook. It's written with the assumption that the reader has some amount of statistics knowledge, and expands on that knowledge with a focus on, as you might guess, public health and epidemiology.

Terrible book, over priced and required for many classes. It paired with another similar book but yet the question sets that were a companion for this book never matched the information from in the book. Most of the time in class I had to use the internet in order to find information that this book missed.

I barely used this book. I found most of my answers by online research. It did offer some helpful vocabulary terms, though. Good look if you're taking Biostatistics and are looking for a good textbook. You may want to order another version to go along with this one- just in case.

Gave the service, time of delivery, advanced notice, and more than competitive price a Five Star rating cause there wasn't six stars available. Everything went smooth as silk and I am now an Amazon aficionado! I have no dislikes to report and recommend this product for those about to engage the study of Public Health.

Might be good for in class learning but not for distance learning...there are better texts that could be used for this.

This book is detailed and comprehensive, but not to the point where I can't get out of the house for days. I use this book to tutor students in biostatistics, and it works well!
Had to have this book for class
