This is the most comprehensive treatment of interferometry by anyone.
It will serve as the Bible of the field. Chapters 9 and 13 are especially illuminating.

This edition significantly updates the prior two editions.
It provides the basic underlying theory as well as providing detailed discussions of a number of critical topics in the field.

Since the publication of its first edition in 1986, this textbook has been considered to be the "Bible" in the field of radio interferometry. Now, this third edition has been updated in a thorough way to reflect the continued development of the technique. In particular, it has been enriched with new material related to observations made in the millimeter and sub-millimeter regime, of relevance for the use of the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA), the powerful new array in northern Chile. Over the years the radio interferometer facilities in the world have accumulated a few thousand users, implying that a sizable fraction of the world population of astronomers (some 20,000 by my estimate) have taken advantage of this technique. This valuable book is an indispensable resource for these users and for those that will come in the future. Its complete study requires of a dedicated graduate course, but the individual chapters will provide immediate valuable information toward an optimal planning of the observations and treatment of the data.

The indispensible reference on the subject. Belongs, and is, on every shelf at every observatory. One star off because it is too expensive for students.

This takes 2 stars only because it is the only book in Radio Interferometry. Otherwise i would give it one, even lower. Why? Because it is the most difficult book i ever read in my life!!! Radio Interferometry is by its "nature" difficult but the only thing this book does is to make it more difficult and confusing. The writers probably wrote this on foot, since their explanations are almost superficial. I wish i could suggest an other book but i can;t since there is none. The only thing i can do is to suggest reading Radio Astronomy of Kraus before attempting reading this book. Things are a bit a clearer after that, from my experience.
