"An anthology of short stories written by Cristina Fernández Cubas, one of the most prominent Spanish short fiction authors, whose work encompasses three decades, from the Post- Franco 80's to the present. This anthology compiles her five published books: Mi hermana Elba, Los altillos de Brumal, El ángulo del horror, Con Agatha en Estambul, and Parientes pobres del diablo. It also includes an unpublished short story, "El faro (The Lighthouse)" which continues an unfinished short story by Edgar Allan Poe of the same title. Her stories, tinged with an intense and precise prose, seamlessly integrate unexpected and mysterious elements into the account of everyday life. Some of her short stories have been translated into English and published in journals." This collection has been selected for inclusion in "The New Essential Guide to Spanish Reading" which is published by America Reads Spanish: a campaign aimed to increase the use and reading of the Spanish language through the thousands of libraries, schools and book stores in the US.

Soy una fan! Leí este libro hace años y todavía recuerdo las historias, los personajes y el estilo. Si alguien ha visto la película Dogtooth, esa es una de las historias en este libro.
