She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, a federally recognized tribe of the Anishinaabe (also known as Ojibwe and Chippewa). Love Medicine is a book I have been meaning to read for years. This book is a well threaded tale of family and culture, difficult lives and how we find our way. Louise Erdrich is a gifted writer who presents her worlds and characters in a way that pulls in the reader. On my belated discovery of Louise Erdrich through her blog, I started with this book on the recommendation of a friend. And while I wasn't disappointed in the vividness department, I felt oddly unsatisfied at the end.
