I was amazed by this book. I like short stories that I can read one at a time and in no particular order when I have the time. The range in the stories was surprising. Although this book is a compilation of short stories, there is a central character thread that carries from one story to another. I was surprised to find people like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robert Kennedy popping up in a couple of the stories. There is everything from bullying to church, and everything in between. The character with the bb gun makes you want to shoot him, but you also want to laugh at him at the same time. There is an interesting Spring Break story with a cool car. There is also a snake in one of the stories. I don't want to give too much away. The stories are interesting enough to read over again. One of them had me crying and a couple of them really did have me laughing out loud. It is original and there is some clever symbolism that is nicely done. I could relate to a lot of the situations and characters. Some of them are really strange too. Overall, this is one of the more interesting books I have read in quite a while. It is certainly unique. I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to another book from this author.
First of all, raising children and being involved in school, community, and working several off beat jobs while focusing primarily on raising my 2 boys has left me no time for the luxury of reading. I finally got myself an iPad and the first thing I did was to download the Kindle App and go straight to Amazon to buy a few books. I called a friend and she suggested I find this author, Robert Reoch. She said his stories would allow me to start and finish one in a sitting, and the best part is they will take me back to my own childhood, get an inside glimps of how little boys think, and they would have me laughing right out loud. With that, I immediately downloaded both his books. She was SO right! Very entertaining and just what I was looking for! Can't wait to start the next book!! I give this Author 2 thumbs up!
This book is by far one of the best I have read. Just by the first short story I was impressed. There is great detail and emotion in this book. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but the stories are captivating and fun. Everyone needs a copy of this book in their home. I just ordered the 2nd book and cannot wait to read it! I hope for more books by this author!!
