Caitlin Thomas (née Macnamara; 8 December 1913 – 31 July 1994) was an author and the wife of the poet and writer Dylan Thomas. Their marriage was a stormy affair, fuelled by alcohol and infidelity, though the couple remained together until Dylan's death in 1953. She paints a picture of a grieving widow seeking solace in distance, a younger lover, and alcohol.
Caitlin and Dylan Thomas were married for 16 years, until Dylan's death in 1953. Though they seemed destined for each other, they were at times each other's nemesis, and Caitlin is not averse to revealing the squalid details of the marital discord, financial distress, infidelity, and alcoholism that turned this love story into a tragedy. A blistering, mature, loving ovenblast of a memoir about Caitlin Thomas' marriage to the 20th century's most celebrated alcoholic genius, written 30 years later, after several suicide attempts, and now 10 years sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous.
