This book is a long series of interviews with him, conducted deftly through the post by another Irish poet. It begins with the life out of which came his first book of poems, Death of a Naturalist. Heaney remembers with love and even reverence his father’s farm in Derry - the thatched farmhouse, the churn in the middle of the kitchen floor, the soft rainwater caught as it came off the byre roof.
