David R. Slavitt strays so far from the original at times (particularly in the chorus parts) he might just as well say the Tragedies of Slavitt not Seneca.

A fine volume of plays by an essential dramatist (especially if Shakespeare-- and his influences-- are of interest to you). The translation can be hit or miss at times-- switching from the archaic to the modern for no seeming reason, but the merit of the works themselves outshines this flaw enough to make it a worthwhile read.

Seneca's tragedies have often taken seats behind those of his Greek predecessors as well as the earlier Roman comedies. The dialogues are virulent, violent, and vituperative. The translations herein are true to both the language of the original Latin and displaying the emotional ferocity of Seneca's plots.
