Moments of Reprieve Levi, Primo Simon & Schuster 9781501167652 : In this collection of essays based on his time as a Jewish prisoner in the Nazi camps, Primo Levi creates a series of sketches. Whether it was the young Romani man who smuggled a creased photo of his bride past the camp guards or the starving prisoner who still insisted on fasting on Yom Kippur, the memory of these individuals stayed with Levi for long after. They represent for him bizarre, marginal moments of reprieve.

Primo Levi (1919-1987), an Italian Jew, did not come to the wide attention of the English-reading audience until the last years of his life. A survivor of the Holocaust and imprisonment in Auschwitz, Levi is considered to be one of the century's most compelling voices, and The Periodic Table is his most famous book. Levi is also the author of Moments of Reprieve. Библиографические данные.

A Memoir of Auschwitz. By Primo Levi Translated by Ruth Feldman. Primo Levi was one of the most astonishing voices to emerge from the twentieth century: a man who survived one of the ugliest times in history, yet who was able to describe his own Auschwitz experience with an unaffected tenderness. Levi was a master storyteller but he did not write fairytales. These stories are an elegy to the human figures who stood out against the tragic background of Auschwitz, the ones in whom I had recognized the will and capacity to react, and hence a rudiment of virtue.

A noted Italian writer presents an assemblage of intricate characters based on his vivid recollections of the prisoners and officials he knew in Auschwitz

AMAZING.
Wafi
Heart wrenching book, but I loved it.
Xar
The book is almost like just alot of essays, or short stories. Levi describes some of the relationships and incidents that he recalls from his time in the camp. Very compelling reading, sort of like a human study of emotions.
