She studied History at London and Oxford and was awarded a distinction for her dissertation on historical heroes. It was a tough study but someone had to do it. Nicola has a double life as a writer and guide at the stunning 17th century hunting lodge, Ashdown House. Cornick expertly spices her latest Regency historical with danger, while the sizzle she cooks up between her sinfully sexy hero and delightfully resourceful heroine is simply spectacular

How do you know you're reading a bad romance novel - the romance begins on a lie, stays on a lie, and folks get married, anyway.
I just hate this type of book - everything is built on a lie - and a lie for no very good reason - unless you think greed is a good reason to lie.
I suppose we're supposed to think that Lucille is caught between her loyalty of her cyprian twin sister, Susannah, and the growing affection she feels for the Earl of Seagrave. But I don't know - it was very hard for me to muster much sympathy for any of the characters - Susannah, Lucille, or the Earl.
I highly recommend you save your money and not bother with this one.

Definitely a well written book --- I find that the characters are well within the time period they portray! By the time I finished the book I was scrambling around to find out if Lady Polly would have her own story to tell. I look forward to a good Regency to dull the boredom of the constant bed hoping of the contemporary romances -- Nicola Cornick paced her story so well that I could not put the book down -- this book gets my own personal rating of excellence [not given to a lot of books] -- Lady Polly here I come!

Really nicely plotted with likeable characters.
