Abandoned Electrical

The late Louis L'Amour is one of my favorite American authors. I've read 21 of his western novels, 5 of his non Westerns and his first book of poems.

The short stories in War Party I had already read in another L'Amour book. So now we have the stories in two books in the family library for readers to read.

Trap of Gold is about a miner finding a very rich huge vane of gold in an almost crumbling mountain. How much ore can the miner take out to help support his family before the mountain crushes him. Will he be smart and get out in time or will greed kill him?

One For The Pot is about a man saving a women. A man needs a woman who will stand beside him not behind.

War Party is about a young boy becoming a man after his Pa is killed and the boy has to protect Ma, and helping some of the Wagon train reach green pastures and woods for settlement.

Get Out of Town is about the courage of an x deputy Marshal, who was a convict that killed the man you killed his brother. A woman tells her young son to hire a man for ranch work and he hires a stranger.

Booty For a Badman is about a honest man Tell Sackett, is hired to deliver gold to a bank for some miners. He meets a runaway young women a wife of a new Second Lieutenant. Men try to take the gold and the spoiled young woman becomes a true plains woman to go back to her husband.

The Gift of Cochise ( my favorite of this book) is about a young woman and young son left alone deep in Apache country. Her husband dies defending a man from a group of killers. The man tries to find the wife and explain what happened and help her. He is captured by the chief Cochise and his braves and is given to the young woman as a present.

A Mule For Santa Fe, a man needs another mule for his team for his wagon in a Wagon Train. The man is also looking for a helpful wife. A pretty widow is able to buy a mule for the man's team in exchange for passage in his wagon. She becomes very helpful

Alkali Basin is about an older man staying alive on his job as a stagecoach arriving center deep in Apache country.

Men To Match The Hills is about a professional dry culcher/assassin and a man he is planning to kill. Big fight scene. Hunted becomes the hunter.

The Defense of Sentinel is about a town drunk defending an evacuated town from a bunch of attacking Apache Indians.

All these stories were wonderful with rich character development and great scenery description. Great stories.

Louis L'Amour wrote he wanted to be remembered as a great story teller. He sure was. INMO one of America's greatest authors. See my other reviews. War Party 5 stars

I bought this for my husaband.! He loves Louis Lamour books. The leather bound cover it very nice too. He always enjoys reading these books. Great for any reader, especially those who enjoy westerns.
