Excellent Dirk Pitt novel where Dirk seems more like a cat with nine lives giving them up time and again. The twists and turns in the story leave a person guessing as to what will happen next, often figuring he cannot get out of each predicament. But get out he does, and show his powers as an actor as well as a super hero. A very good book and recommended.

Thank you so much Mr Amazon for releasing this masterpiece for us poor kindle folks. My son Bill used to only recommend cussler books with the glib Fargo twins. This has renewed my interest in his books. The action of Dirk with his lisp and dainty walk split my side laughing. And the sound of echidna made me sick. And the final scene at the pirates cave was magnificent.

people should know that this book is a hard cover book the size of a paperback not a 'normal' hard cover size... I buy hard cover books because of the size and ease of reading.. This book although well written lacks those two important items..

I'm reading these in order even though you don't need to. Each Dirk Pitt Adventure is stand alone. This one had lots of twists and turns along the way, although I was not to happy with one of them. Great descriptions of countryside and types and styles of ships and planes. Interesting read.

Good read with a fast moving storyline. I thought the ending was rather abrupt which seems to be characteristic of Clive Cussler's books. Story was generally realistic but I noted two discrepancies: the US Coast Guard's reconnaissance aircraft would most likely be turboprop aircraft built by Lockheed (C-130 or P-3). Not a reciprocating engine power aircraft built by Boeing. The other discrepancy was the use of a B-92 supersonic reconnaissance aircraft to transport Pitt to the west coast. No such aircraft that I am aware of. But generally a good read with interesting plot twists and a lot of action.

Interesting to read about Iceland as the geographic setting for this adventure. Also interesting to read a book by Clive Cussler for the first time. The villans start as capitalist wizards, but turn on their group in order to take over the world, country by country. Dirk Pitt takes a beating, but saves most of the good guys any way. The rural natives of Iceland offer kind and wise assistance. Icebergs add to the adventure.
It is like listening to an old friend every time I delve into another Clive Cussler story. Action, adventure, interesting story line excellent characters it has it all. I highly recommend "Iceberg".
