Modern day anthropologist Maya Jones has been contracted by a Scottish university to help unearth and catalog ancient relics within a recently discovered secret lair in what was once the Castle MacGregor. From the beginning of her assignment, Maya has been inexplicably drawn to any references she could find concerning the clan's brutal and mysterious 14th century laird Thomas MacGregor. Equally intriguing to her are paintings and stories referencing the MacGregor's wife, known to antiquity only as Lady M. The paintings were severely charred in a castle fire run amok a couple of centuries past, but Maya can make out enough of the damaged portraits to surmise that, oddly enough, she and Lady M possess the same hair and eye color. When a ferocious hurricane ravages Maya's hometown, she'll find out that she and the lady's similar physical features are more than just mere coincidence...

For me this book was great. It had most of the elements I love in my romance novel: a) An alpha and brooding hero with no commitment issues, who quickly realizes how much the heroine means to him (not a denier of his feelings for the She),. B) a beautiful and sassy heroine with a definite backbone, and who was not scarred during the progression of the story, C) The book was full length (not a novella). I also loved their instant attraction, and as another reviewer has pointed out, the book did not end when the couple got together. I was over the moon that I could get to read about their lives together, while still devoted to each other. The conflicts that develop to propel the story along, had nothing to do with how they felt about each other.

The story itself was interesting, and for me a page turner. The main couple had a lot of interaction with each other, and we get a lot of the hero's point of view (loved that too). This story was not perfect (as if such a thing was possible), but it was great none the less, at least for me. The hero to some may come across at times, "almost" but not quite, as a caricature, with how he usually chooses to communicate: with constant bellows and growls. But to me he came across as endearing, when he directed those bellows and glares towards the heroine. It was his way of dealing with the intensity of feelings he had for his lady and that as such a formidable man, he often did not know how to cope with them. An usually his lady was on to him, and even when she was not, she did not give him an easy way out.

I loved this book so much that I bought it for my permanent library, even though I had originally borrowed and read it through Kindle Unlimited.

This 50 chapter book was such a great read that I didn't expect from the author. Two women Maya and Sara from modern day Florida are sweeped away during a tropical storm to the 14th century Scotland where they meet Thomas the MacGregor and laid and his commander at arm's. They both take to the women and begin to fall for eachother while trying to protect lady Maya from a deranged rival clan. I won't spoil the ending but it's a great book, unexpected from the author since I have read her other works but it's such a great read.

This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Black's stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Jaid Black is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet scorching love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic book and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have this book in your library collection!!!!!!

I did enjoy the book but I found several scenario's unlikely with the characters behaviour. As a whole the book is good if you can buy the whole fall in LOVE thing in less than a week. If that is your style then you will love it all. I didn't like that the characters seemed so drawn to one another and fall in love based so much on looks.

There is the whole alpha male thing, which I like, and his character holds true throughout with good development. The main female characters are supposed to be educated and independent women but their behaviour doesn't always match up with that. I find the main female character giving in to easily far to often. It just irked me a bit. I wanted to see a little more education in their behaviour and not so much "ME man...me rule...you listen" and then have them comply so willingly. I am more the type to want a stronger female character with more witty come backs. There were some good come backs though but I wanted more out of them. I had hoped they would be more spit fire like with brains.

By the way the cover doesn't go well with the book either. The woman is blond in the book, minor issue. I just get tired of these women characters all having "golden" hair.

This is a story of a pair of female anthropologists that are studying the relics from an ancient castle in Scotland. Maya finds that the painting of the Lady MacGregor is very similiar to her in eye color and hair color. She and her friend Sara are intrigued by the Clan MacGregor.
While walking on the beach during a hurricane the two girls are swept bak in time to meet this Clan. Maya and Thomas, the laird of the clan, antagonize each other. both being strong willed and independent. Maya just wants to get home, until she realizes that she has fallen in love with Thomas.
Thomas has been taught that women are faithless and untrustworthy. He is unprepared for the force of his attraction to Maya. I will say he is open minded when Maya explains her origins.
This is a great story and although not as steamy as some of Jaid Black's other stories it is very enjoyable.
