Return to Mormonville book.

In Jeff Call’s first novel Mormonville, we meet Luke Manning, a somewhat hardened New York City journalist who is sent to Utah to get the goods on the Mormons for the purpose of writing an expose. What Luke didn’t expect was to meet the girl of his dreams, find a best friend, and feel completely at home in this tiny, Podunk little town called Helaman. At the end of the book he calls his publisher and refuses to do the story, and converts to the Gospel. The plot sounds a little cliché, but Call is a talented author and threw some twists in there that took the book out of the ordinary.

After reading the original "Mormonville" a second time, I was fortunate enough to find a copy of the sequel. I am very glad I ignored any negatives and purchased the book!

After reading the original "Mormonville" a second time, I was fortunate enough to find a copy of the sequel. I am very glad I ignored any negatives and purchased the book! Very well written, with just enough humor to lighten a fairly tense experience for the hero of the story. Loved the way the book ended! Popular Categories.

Then she finds a strange book

Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds, and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure and danger. Only weeks after Ivy's return to her true home in the Winter Court, she finds herself thrown into life as a royal with a new fiance she can't stand. Will their choices draw them closer together or rip them apart?Filled with secrets, lies, betrayal, and romance, Game of Shadows is a dark faerie tale that will leave you breathless to the very last page.

It has been almost two years since Luke Manning joined the Church, and just over a year since he married his one true love.

Once a cynical New York reporter trying to get the "scoop" on the Mormons, Luke is now one himself, and determined to live a Christ-like life.

On a new assignment in Sudan, Africa as part of a humanitarian project, Luke realizes this isn’t "Mormonville" anymore, in fact, Sudan is one of the most dangerous places in the world. But with a goal to further his career and be of good service, he plows ahead.

Seeking an injured man outside the safety of a refugee camp, Luke and fellow workers are ambushed and kidnapped by terrorists. Now he will learn what it means to be a true Christian as he tries to build relationships with his captors, modeling compassion and kindness in hopes of a release. But days turn into weeks and months, and Luke wonders if he’ll ever hold Hayley in his arms again.

A timely look at a troubling situation, Jeff Call takes us on a journey of profound importance, especially for all of us who want to learn what it means to stand for the right and yet, "turn the other cheek."

It's ok. I felt some of the facts were wrong in sayng certain callings that he stated. He wouldn't call a non-member to teach a Primary Class. It is a good story and all is well when the book closes. Many of my friends thought that it was a funny book. Maybe I am too serious.

An interesting take on the art of forgiveness, but like the authors earlier works - all to predicable.

After reading the original "Mormonville" a second time, I was fortunate enough to find a copy of the sequel. It was good enough to keep me reading until reaching the end, in spite of a less-than-favorable review someone had posted. I am very glad I ignored any negatives and purchased the book! Very well written, with just enough humor to lighten a fairly tense experience for the hero of the story. Loved the way the book ended!
