I read this book after having just visited Plymouth, Massachussets, and studying about the Pilgrims. Even though the story is fiction it is woven into factual history and gives the reader an awesome look into the personalities and qualities of the people who lived this historical event. This book barely makes it back home before someone else asks to borrow it. New York in the 1920s: the biggest binge and the longest hangover in history. From gangsters, short skirts and the Charleston to booming stock markets and financial mayhem on Wall Street. Meanwhile, three brothers from Ireland are caught up in the crazy rhythm of the roaring twenties. Dan becomes a stockbroker on the New York Stock Exchange while Tim, a priest-to-be, finds his vocation severely tested on the Lower West Side.

It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life.
