A Complete Concordance to the Holy Scriptures, generally known as Cruden's Concordance, is a concordance of the King James Bible (KJV) that was singlehandedly created by Alexander Cruden (1699–1770). The Concordance was first published in 1737 and has not been out of print since then.

Frances Stern's bold and well-researched claim is that Proust's main sources of inspiration in A la recherche du temps perdu can be traced in Dante's Divina Commedia, Racine's PhÈdre, Goethe's Faust and Wagner's Parsifal. Here is an extraordinary work of scholarship that offers, as George Painter says, "four neglected threads which will perhaps aid us to find the way, and issue out to rebehold the stars."

1) I somehow missed the fact that this concordance is in French. I had hoped that it would be for the Pleiade edition
2) Even though I can read French, the concordance is not easy to follow. It is hard to find topics, quotes, even short scenes.
3)I would say that it is for the serious scholar only.

This "concordance" of Proust was recommended by one of my favourite authors, Alexander McCall Smith, who gave a very merry talk during a visit to Sydney, Australia. He said that quoting Proust is the ultimate in pretentiousness, and that with the aid of this concordance you can quote Proust on any topic that arises. Just so! The concordance is comprehensive, as its name implies, and very easy to consult. What fun I'm going to have flooring people flat.
