The day is past and gone. The evening shade appear. Oh may we all remember well

The day is past and gone. Oh may we all remember well. But she had sat mute, watching her friends walking past her bench, accepting Christ, acknowledging God as their Master, Jesus their Savior, and her heart fluttered like that of a small bird about to be stoned. It was her father's voice that moved her, that voice that could come only from the life he lived.

The story opens the day before Alice's fifteenth birthday

Thousands of books are eligible, including current and former best sellers. The story opens the day before Alice's fifteenth birthday. It should have been a wonderful day with anticipation and preparations all around her; except this is Alice and nothing is ever easy about Alice. Instead, there is Chuck and the beginnings of a plan that somehow spirals out of control and way over Alice’s head. Things just go helter skelter from there. Be careful what you wish for.

This book showed how to have extremely different characters interact, and how to keep your characters’ pasts .

This book showed how to have extremely different characters interact, and how to keep your characters’ pasts and motivations mysterious while still having character development. I would definitely use the same style of characterization in my own work now that I have seen it. It was interesting to see which bonds formed between which characters as the play progressed. As stated, there are only four characters in the play, five if you include the voice on the Alice Invents a Little Game and Alice Always Wins by Nick Flynn Faber and Faber, In. New York, 2008. Nick Flynn’s first play is different from what you would normally think of when you read a play.

The fact that Dee feels somewhat oppressed by her past is noticeable by the fact that she changes her name to Wangero which she may believe to be more symbolic of her African heritage. Similarly her boyfriend may also have changed his name. Though it is difficult to say for certain. However both Dee and her boyfriend are a different generation to Mrs Johnson and Maggie. Something that is also noticeable by Dee taking photographs of the house. Possibly doing so, so that she can remember where she came from and in the belief that she has advanced in life. That being no longer is she oppressed.
