I loved this book the first time I ever read it, and I was willing to pay over $40 dollars for the copy I now have, and since i don't buy books at any price nowadays, that's high praise from me! I love the way they switch back and forth beween the three venues of the books, and there's no disrespect intended from them. The only ones wsho could possibly be offended by this book are those pompous fools with out a shred of humor. This is a marvelous, sweet book about a cat, so don't expect heroics and pious derring-do, for the ony heroics ar from a one-time scrawny little ball of fur. Try to find a copy. It's well worth the effort. ..
I bought this as I remember reading it many years ago. It was just as much fun to read today as it was then.

Being a christian story, it has strong story elements involving christian values like, love, faith and charity.

The cat, Nemrod (named after Nimrod found in Genesis 10:8-12), is a stray who is treated with kindness by a bishop and given a home in the cathedral. The story involves how the cat pays back that kindness.

While the author takes some liberties in the portrayal of heaven and hell, they are true enough to christian beliefs that they are not offensive. The story is told through flashbacks as the story starts in heaven with the excitement of a new saint arriving at heaven's gates, then with flashbacks, we learn the earthly story of the new saint who happens to be a cat (who St. Peter regards as a creature of Satan).

The story is funny, entertaining and sad and a very worthwhile read.

This book deserves to be put back in print even as just a kindle e-book.
I am happy to have found this book. I read Magnifi-cat many years ago, acquired a copy, and then lost it. It can be difficult to decide which seller to go with when purchasing a used book, as one must rely on the seller's opinion of the condition of the volume being offered. I suppose the seller could provide detailed photos if asked. I could not spend a lot of money, so I am especially pleased with the condition of the copy of Magnifi-cat that I received - it was as described in the offering. Some foxing inside, little tears in the dust cover, but I am just very happy to have it in my possession once again!
Though not great literature, perhaps, the story is brilliantly entertaining and a real tearjerker at times. I've had several copies of this over the years, and never want to be without it again; I re-read it regularly!
I used to check this out over and over at the library, and now it is my daughters favorite! Really cute story. Good for a 9 yr old.
This is an excellent book for readers of any age, no matter what religious path they are taught. The lessons learned from this story transcend boundaries.

I first read this book at a very young age, and lost my copy in a fire several years ago. I was so happy to find it again.
What a pleasure to rediscover a middle school favourite! I'm really looking forward to the interest I know my children will have in this book. Any young person who loves animals, and everyon who has ever thought that our beloved pets deserve their own "heavenly reward" will appreciate this charming little book.
A lovely story about a cat, showing up at the Pearly Gates, with the halo of a saint; an unique event in history. Naturally Satan tries to take advantage of the situation to grab more souls...
