I adore the books by William W. Johnstone, he was a man ahead of his time - especially with the 'Out of the Ashes' series. But a lot of people are into the zombie thing. The creepies aren't exactly zombies but they sure have a lot of the same qualities. The only small difference is that the creepies aren't dead. The books are fun and fit in well with the dystopian craze.

I'm reading the entire series. I'm all the way to book twelve. I adore the books by William W. Johnstone, he was a man ahead of his time - especially with the 'Out of the Ashes' series. I have to admit the first few books in the series were my absolute favorites. But a lot of people are into the zombie thing. The creepies aren't exactly zombies but they sure have a lot of the same qualities. The only small difference is that the creepies aren't dead. The books are fun and fit in well with the dystopian craze. They are a well kept secret but I'm telling everyone looking for a good read - Ben Raines is your man!

Very enjoyable escapism even if it's a bit dated. The premise is not though. We still may endure such an apocalyptic time. Those who have lived or visited New York city and surrounding areas will enjoy viewing the fighting through those eyes.
You'll be on the edge of your seat with every bullet.

The series has a lot of repeating from past books to bring up to date the reader who jumps into the series mid stream, however, I have always found any Ashes series book the kind of read I want for enjoyment, its not educational, historical, but does give you the "what if".."could".."might" always in the back of your head. A fun read

IF you start reading the William Johnstone Ashes Series, Be sure and go back to the first available book in the series! These books really keep you enthralled in action; But yet, they pull you deeper into the what if hypothesis of what would it be like if a world war really brought the world down to the Ashes stage.

Another great book by Johnstone. It shows what America would be like, if the liberals have their way, like they are doing now. Good action, good story line.
