Swastika Over Paris - Jeremy Josephs. For georges-andré kohn. In Jeremy Josephs’ book, it is the young, heroic Paulette Szlifke who strikingly embodies both the Jewish Resistance itself and more general resistance by the Jews. Jeremy Josephs portrays not only the victims, but also the fanaticism, drive, cunning and cruelty of the oppressor: Aloïs Brünner, Eichmann’s right-hand man, who was sent on a mission to France to deport as many Jews as possible from this difficult hunting ground.

Focusing on the war experiences of Armand Kohn, a rich Parisian Jew, and Paulette Szlifke, a courageous teenage resistance fighter, this is the story of the Nazi persecution of French Jews. The text explores how the Nazis, aided by many French men and women, attempted genocide of the Jews.

Rude
Swastika Over Paris recounts, as a result of research and interviews by the author, the true stories about unconnected Jewish people during the Nazis occupation in Paris, and especially about a very young French Jewish girl who was not deluded about what was going on, and a very rigid minded Jewish man who believed that if he toed the line he and his family would be spared. This book is a lesson about how fear and anger inspires our decision to rebel, or to submit, and the price of either choice.
Not-the-Same
It was a shocking book that provides further proves of Natzi atrocities. Very well written and documented. I would like to read further work of the author.
