This is the best book on Dysthymia yet! I have suffered from low-grade chronic depression for 60 years, most of which I didn't know or understand that I had a mental disorder, only that I felt down and sad most of the time. Dr Downs has NAILED the dysthymic symptoms and behaviors. He truly understands what I have been dealing with and just as important, suggests ways to deal with my dysthymia. It is an easy read but with so much meaningful information, there is a lot to absorb. I am currently on my second reading and will likely read it again until I have internalized his advice.

This is a must read for anyone who suffers from dysthymia!!

This book has TONS of useful information in it and is written from the perspective of someone who is "one of us"...the constant/chronically discontent. However, the one BIG problem with this book is the grammar and typos...there are so many that it is very distracting and takes away a LOT of the enjoyment of reading it.
The information is wonderful; the grammar/typos will drive you nuts!!!
Where was the editor...to correct all those things?

I have struggled with undiagnosed depression all my life. About 8 years ago I went into major depression. The meds helped immensely but for the last few years or so their effects were diminishing. This book is really pointing me in a direction to go, giving me a way to help myself. If you are not quite ready for the loony bin, but keep saying,"there's got to be more to life than this" try this book.

The information shared in this book has been helpful. It's easy to understand but as others have commented there are typos... But nothing that makes it hard to understand.

From the first page I felt like this book was describing me "to a T." I really like how instead of just telling the reader what is wrong, there is journal/reflection program to help work through things. I read this book as a library checkout, but liked it so much I decided to buy it to keep as a reference.

This book was very helpful to me. For anyone with this problem who can't afford thousands of dollars for therapy, it is well worth reading. I also think it would be helpful for friends and family of people with CD. It will give them a better understanding people with CD.

Wanted thought process tools to help cope with CD. Most of the book related these problems to relationships. Not so in my case.
