The Eating Enigma explores the massive spike in obesity and diabetes among adults and children in the nearly forty years that high fructose corn syrup and other sugars have been added to soft drinks, sport drinks, and processed foods

The Eating Enigma explores the massive spike in obesity and diabetes among adults and children in the nearly forty years that high fructose corn syrup and other sugars have been added to soft drinks, sport drinks, and processed foods. Diet is, in fact, the root cause of much of our health problems in the twenty-first century.

There is so much conflicting information about what to eat and not eat, what’s healthy and what isn’t. You stare into your fridge and think of the massive overhaul it would take to restock it with the right foods every time you read an article promoting a new type of diet.

I must down to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky. All I want is a tall ship and a star to steer her by. Favourites.

The Eating Enigma provides factual, research-based evidence to show that we can stave off type 2 diabetes, avoid becoming obese, and maintain good health naturally by eating according to our nutritional type and feeding our bodies the nutrients they need. The Eating Enigma also quotes Dr Robert Lustig's paper, "The Fructose Epidemic," with his full permission, and uses it as the foundation that supports these findings.

Not another diet book??? Well actually no. It is true that it does make dietary recommendations but these tend to differ from person to person depending on their Nutritional type.

Nutritional typing has only been available for the last few years and is new to most of us including our doctors.

What is also new is the realization that the advise, in the late sixties, about high carbohydrate low fat diets for all, is manifestly wrong.

"The Eating Enigma" has been meticulously and accurately researched to give you the whole story from the beginning, helped by Dr Mercola and Professor Lustig from the U.S.A. It takes us through the root causes of many diseases and gives much information as to the causes of the current epidemic of Obesity and Non-communicable disease, cancers, heart disease, type 2 diabetes etc.

'The Eating Enigma' was a well written, practical guide to nutrition, overall healthy living, and so much more. The author's style and tone made the concepts he described very easy to understand, and anyone who reads this book will walk away with enough practical information to make a significant life change for the better.

In the beginning of the book, I found myself becoming angry with the way that unhealthy foods have become so embedded in our diets, as well as the devastating effects that they have caused. However, by the end of the book, I was inspired to buckle down and make serious changes in my own life, and I actually felt like I could do it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has questions about how various foods and substances affect our bodies, particularly carbohydrates and sugars, and also to those who may have been diagnosed with Type 1 or 2 Diabetes. The author takes great care explaining various things to those populations.

Great read!

At last. A long overdue report on why our Nations are becoming obese despite staying off all the fats as advised by the experts. The real reaon that Diabetes Type 2 is on the increase and hitting children, a group not previously expected to suffer it. Here is a book that's not written in medicalese but in plain English telling all about the different sugars and how they metabolise in our bodies so we can understand the effect they're having on us. I recommend anyone who is wondering if their eating habits are right to buy this and give themselves the best chance of a nice long future ahead of them.
Simon Frost may pull no punches with his advice but he tells no lies either, he lets the facts do the talking.
For me a very informative book and one I'm glad is in my arsenal.

This book helped me understand why I often felt bad after eating certain foods -- I wasn't eating according to my nutritional type. That was a real eye opener for me. I also learned a lot about the damage that can be done to your liver and pancreas from eating too much sugar. I think we've always heard the generic admonition, "Sugar is bad for you," but we aren't usually told how and why in plain language. This book does a great job of explaining that natural sugars (fruits, veggies) and fats (dairy, plant-based) are good for you in moderation. It's the sugars found in all the processed, packaged foods that will do some real damage to your insides.

Highly recommend this book.
