I hope that schools have moved beyond this 'group think' approach. It's fine on occasion, but it doesn't fit the needs of many students.

This book is an overview of the techniques that might be used in the co-operative classroom. It also deals with the philosophy behind the theory. This is a good academic book, plenty citations, etc, if you wanted to use quotations or other refernces. It seems to be mainly aimed at elementary school but there are some ideas for high school too, that you could modify. I have taken some inservice on this topic, and to be honest, these were more helpful to me as teacher at the "coalface", so to speak. The binding is quite loose, so you will need a folder to keep it together. I bought this second-hand and got great value, it was in good order. Apparently Nut and Bolts of Co-operative Learning is a better buy, but I have not read is a bit pricey yet!!
The book I received wasn't a bad book, but the edition was 30 years older than advertised. Be sure to check with the seller if you're looking for the 2008 edition!
The product was exactly what I needed for the class, so I thought this was great. I actually think all the descriptions of the text were accurate and I wasn't surprised by any misleading details. Great seller!!!
This book is an excellent resource for any teacher or aspiring teacher wanting to implement Cooperative Learning in their classroom. Cooperative Learning is something we should all consider. This book gives suggestions on how to teach social skills as well as how to incorporate a more productive form of lecture teaching.
