A lot of good general information for those who move from secondary education to the college ranks, however, common sense will prevail here, as to what to put into your syllabus, or leave out. Since every face-to-face class is different then it is advisable to error on the side of having all your bases covered, and Seeman has a lot of good advice for every situation.

I wasn't very impressed with this book. Most of the scenarios were either so trivial as to not really warrant mentioning (such as hair twirling) to such major problems (e.g. threatening behavior, etc) that in most cases, the teacher's university would already have a procedure in place to deal with it. A lot of every day problems (such as students doing work for another class in their class) were dismissed as something the professor should ignore, and it seemed in many cases the teacher's reaction to it was characterized as being mostly an ego problem. While there may be many instances when a professor _does_ overreact or is taking something more personally than s/he should, I'm not sure telling a professor they should simply "get over it" is either original or particularly helpful advice.
