This book starts off by telling us about of how the fire started in 1666 when a baker named Thomas Faynor was awoken by one of his workers because they could smell smoke in his house. It goes on to tell us how they had to climb to their neighbour’s house to escape the fire.

However the fire spread because most of the buildings built in those days were made of wood. I found this book really informative and enjoyed the illustrations, which added to the description of the story

The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations or The Great Exhibition (sometimes referred to as the Crystal Palace Exhibition in reference to the temporary structure in which it was held), an international exhibition, took place in Hyde Park, London, from 1 May to 15 October 1851.
