Development Across the Life Span 5th Ed.

This detailed and readable book provides readers with a broad overview of the field of human development, covering the entire range of human life—from the moment of conception through death—and focusing on physical, cognitive, and social and personality development. It covers basic theories and research findings, as well as highlighting current applications outside the laboratory. A nine-part organization covers beginnings, infancy: forming the foundations of life, the preschool years, the middle childhood years, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, late adulthood, and endings. For individuals spanning the range of human existence—and trying to maximize its current content and inherent promise.

I really did learn a lot from this book. It was a good read, and introduced me to a lot of topics that I I have never thought about before. My only criticism is that it pushes towards the pessimistic side on health issues and the decline of people in middle age and old age rather than focusing on many of the positive things that happened during those chapters. It also assumes that everybody takes the same path, but I suppose they simply just focused on the majority. I felt that the birth through adolescence chapters were exceptionally excellent.

I bought this book for a class I am taking at community college, and I found that everywhere I looked charged an arm and a leg for this book (ouch!) So I ordered it from this seller and out of my surprise, it was nearly fifty dollars cheaper than anywhere else I could find this item, and it was practically brand new. Part of the spine at the top was ripped, but it was hardly noticeable. The pages were all in tact, there was no writing or highlighting, and I am able to use it efficiently in class. This is a great buy without having to go broke.

Rented this book for the semester and am in love with the fact that I didn't have to buy it a full price and wonder what to do with it after my class ended. It was, however, an interesting book that could be great for referring to if you were going into this field of study. It was just a gen ed course for me, but I still loved the information it shared. Once the semester ended, I had enough time to return the book, which was very simple since Amazon provides you the return label. Definitely rent from Amazon! I can't believe I ever hesitated about it.

This product is completely misrepresented. It contains charts and references to statistics based in India that are not helpful or relevant to someone studying in the United States. Clearly this textbook should not be distributed outside of India despite the disclaimer that they make in the description on the Amazon website. If they still included the original statistics it would be fine to have the additional statistics to India but they have removed the original United states-based statistics, rendering this useless as a textbook for someone studying in the United States.

If this sounds too good to be true..it's Not. This is totally real!! Yes..only $17 for this book and while it's an old edition, the information inside the book is practically the exact same!!! Pictures and everything!!

repeats and repeats and repeats... too long and distracting distribution of paragraphs.

I needed this book for a college class I am taking, it came as expected on time. Not the best read, but not too boring either.
This is the required textbook for my developmental psychology class. Amazon was much cheaped than the school book store. It came three days sooner than I was told it would.

I have only read one chapter so far but I like how each chapter has a prologue and a review of the important information. It has the key words and definitions in bold print throughout the chapter and in the margins. This makes them easier to find.

The only drawback is next year they are using a newer edition so I can not sell it to someone who might need it.
