I've been looking for a good book that contains a chock full of studies that would or would not support complementary and integrative medicines. There is a lot of information about products out there that purport to "cure" (or protect against) cancer that is very questionable and based on heresay from others that used the product. I am a big opponent of using chemo/radiation/surgery to address cancer - or at least without using alternative/integrative medicine as a HUGE component of addressing the cancer. As an aside, they used to use drugs/electric shock/surgery (e.g. lobotomies) to treat mental illness - see the analogy?

This book won't give you studies that address all C/I medicines, only because there are scant studies in some areas. But what it gives you is fantastic. The only drawback I found in the book is that it doesn't discuss alternative C/I medical centers (e.g., Oasis of Hope) in greater detail than I hope for.

This is a great book, especially the chapter on Chinese medicine and Cancer. It explains how a traditional medicine views the disease and reviews the literature regarding how when conventional medicine meets traditional medicine the two together are stronger than either one on its own. All doctors and patients will be informed by the information included within these pages.
