The British Journal of Midwifery conference to mark 10 years of publication started with presentations of English developments in national policy followed by three papers on the use of evidence to inform practice. A refreshing aspect was the range of speakers, an encouraging sign that midwives can both learn from and face the examination of other experts as well as ourselves.
