I ended up reading this book cover to cover and loved it. Each chapter has a slightly different topic and a different author. It gives you perspectives from parents, teachers, researchers as well as persons with autism. I highly recommend it for parents and teachers of students with autism.

An easy read. Also there are tons of strategies students can use for assignments. Teachers can also apply the strategies that are in this book to their classroom very practical applications

This book offers a very good perspective on how to think about autism and the education of people living with it, but the research and some of the information included is VERY dated. Some of the research presented no longer represents the most current knowledge of the field and the author's use of the DSM-IIIR undermines its current validity as an informational text. Much of the information on approaching the instruction or understanding characteristics of autism as it relates to learning or daily life is very well done and continues to have value, but caution needs to be used with this text to frame the older information into our contemporary picture of autism.

It arrived on time, in fact it came in early. I have not had a chance to read it all the way through, I have just skimmed through different parts but so far it seems like it will be helpful.

This book is a wonderful resource for learning how to approach children with autism. It is very easy to read and deals with a variety of different methods that can be used to deal with just about any level on the autistic spectrum. As a speech therapist working with variety of children with autism, I continually return to this resource to help plan my assessments and intervention. It is an excellent resource that addresses communication, play, pragmatics, parent desires, and self-control at a variety of levels. The chapters that deal with specific areas, such as enhancing social communicative interactions, often provide you with the necessary paperwork for assessment and/or intervention in the appendix. This is a must buy book! I would highly recommend this book to anyone working with children with autism.
