Rarely have I encountered a textbook that is so easy to read as well as extremely educational. By the time I finished reading this book, I felt extremely enlightened on the topic of Child-Centered Play Therapy and I also felt comfortable attempting the strategies outlined in the text. The authors make a very compelling argument for CCPT and answer any concerns a skeptic might have about their approach. The flow of the chapters is logical and helpful and the examples provided in each chapter greatly augment the respective concepts. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is considering working with children in any capacity, two thumbs up!

This book is a very comprehensible read that helps the reader to understand child centered play therapy (CCPT) in a way that they can put into action after finishing the book. Although a slight skeptic at first, after reading this book I no longer doubt the helpfulness of CCPT. The authors provide readers with compelling arguments and a variety of research to support that CCPT is an effective intervention. I would recommend this book to all individuals interested in learning more about the approach or who are involved in work with children.

The book provides a thorough understanding of the benefits of Child-Centered Play Therapy and the tools for learning the technique, such as examples of tracking, empathic responding, role plays, and responding to questions or commands. I highly recommend this textbook for mental health professionals and parents. The child-centered approach has proven to be highly effective in the growth and development of children. A chapter on Filial Therapy is included to help parents provide special therapeutic playtime at home.

Authors provide a thorough explanation of Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). They make a strong case that CCPT is an effective intervention for youth through case examples and citing the results of quantitative and qualitative empirical research studies. Furthermore, authors provide activities that readers can do individually or in groups to practice their CCPT skills. I would recommend this textbook to casual readers, parents, and practitioners who are interested in learning about CCPT. This is one textbook that I will not be selling back to the bookstore.
This is a great book! It is written in a way that is exciting to read and does not drag out. The concepts of this book are described clearly, in a language that could be understood easily. I love the use of examples throughout the book. The examples allowed me to really visualize what Child Centered Play Therapy can look like and has given me a strong base to grow from.
