Series: International Library of Philosophy. I am not a Platonist by any stretch of the imagination. Hardcover: 350 pages. Publisher: Routledge (November 30, 2000). When it comes to any of the subject matter of philosophy, I am constantly led to the simple conclusion that Plato was wrong - he wasn't right about anything! But Plato's importance in the history of philosophy is another matter, entirely. This book covers one of the most remarkable periods in human thought. In the space of two and a half centuries, philosophy developed from quasi-mythological speculation to a state in which many of the most fundamental questions about the universe, the mind and human conduct had been vigorously pursued and some of the most enduring masterworks of Western thought had been written.
