Fair amount of info, interesting read. depends where one is at in understanding quantum physics history and principles, holographic systems, as well as unbiased understanding of the teachings of tantra, sanskrit and other "ancient" teachings. Here Talbot ties them together. It's not a stretch to read coming in without prior knowledge either. A quick read actually with some thought provoking sentences one will want to jot down.

Michael Talbot Mystics have long held that the physical world is an illusion. This book shows how quantum physics is putting forward ideas that confirm this perception. this is a very poor attempt at synthesizing "quantum physics" and "mysticism. talbot fails to even show the most basic understanding of either quantum physics or mysticism, making many elementary errors obvious to a student of either. he cites books that he clearly has no idea what they're actually saying, taking a sentence or two out of context to demonstrate.

Michael Coleman Talbot (September 29, 1953 – May 27, 1992) was an American author of several books highlighting parallels between ancient mysticism and quantum mechanics.

According to Talbot ESP, telepathy, and other paranormal phenomena are a product of this holographic model of reality.

In the opening part of the book, Michael Talbot explores the ideas behind quantum physics and, specifically, some of.It then looks at mysticism and how the ideas found in Tantric studies mirror the ideas of quantum physics.

In the opening part of the book, Michael Talbot explores the ideas behind quantum physics and, specifically, some of the paradoxes these theories bring in relationship to consciousness. This prequel to The Holographic Universe is a must-have for those who are trying to bring together science and spirituality and wish to gain a deeper understanding of the truths behind quantum physics. Mystics and "idealists" have always propounded the idea that the world is an illusion. Now quantum physics is putting forward theories that reinforce this belief. You can ask us about this book and we'll send an answer to your e-mail.

Nowhere is the “paradigm shift”—the radical change of perspective that is sweeping the Western world—advancing so rapidly as in physics. Mystics and “idealists” have always propounded the idea that the world is an illusion. Now quantum physics is putting forward theories that reinforce this belief. Until recently, the empirical approach of physicists such as Newton has taught us that the world exists with or without human consciousness to observe it. But we can never be totally objective about reality. The human mind, with all its preconceived notions and prejudices, always intrudes, even in the most scientific of experiments, making true objectivity impossible to achieve. The new physicists state that reality is a combination of the laws of the physical world, quantifiable and unequivocal, and the subjective viewpoint of the observer. This “omnijective view” of the universe challenges all our most deeply held scientific beliefs and could radically change the way we view reality in the future. As our constructs are amended to this shift in approach, we can anticipate monumental changes in Western thought.

Mr. Talbot's other book, "The Holographic Universe" is a phenomenal work and is relatively easy to read, especially if one has a science and math background. This book "Mysticism and the New Physics" I find difficult to follow. Seems like just a bunch of random thoughts without much connection between them. I will read it again and take notes this time. Maybe I went too fast.

Note that this work was published about 10 years earlier than the Holographic one. Perhaps it took some time for Mr. Talbot to integrate all these complex ideas in his mind.

If you are seeking more details related to the content of the Holographic book, you will find some of that here, but I suggest take notes as you go along.

Fabulous book! Best read in small literary "bites," in my opinion. This is good, deep stuff. It is said that anyone who claims to understand Quantum Physics obviously does NOT understand it.

The principles are quite contrary to the standard Newtownian model. (Einstein referred to quantum particle behavior as "spooky action at a distance.")

As a modern mystic ~and~ lover of science (had a first edition of _A Brief History of Time_ until my ex stole it), I found this book deeply satisfying.

Excellent book on Quantum Mechanics and Mysticism. It is a simple explanation for a person who doesn't understand the complicity of such matters, but wants to know more.

My favorite book was written by this author "The Holographic Universe". This book did not disappoint as I found myself not able to put it down. I would not rate it better than Holographic Universe but it was definitely a great read.

I chose this book because it seemed a likely volume for a layman who is interested in quantum physics to read. It is not exactly to my personal taste but don't let that stop you, especially if you are a New-ager. This book could be right up your alley...

This is not a light read. College+. Very pleasurable. I see application across multiple fields of faith and science. Philosophy students will love it.

Life changer from the 80's.
I love this book, and am very surprised its not a lot more popular. Talbot doesn't dance around the subject like more other authors and books do! He gets straight to the point with very informed and powerful concepts. I often find it burdensome to have to deal with an authors "filler" material, and if I can speak for myself, I want to get to the point, and then relate that point to different perspectives. Excellent book and probably one of the top 5 books I've read out of about 30 or so. If your at all interested in the topic, pick it up!
