I wish I had the time right now to write a full review of this atlas. I purchased this mainly for for my children as a study tool. The maps are excellent. The commentary is enough to drive home the point of the map without taking away from the images. I wish just a few more pages had been devoted to the 1860's but for the size and breadth it is otherwise worth its muster. The price is a little excessive, comparable to college bookstore prices, but a little patience can help you nab it for a steal-price of a finger instead of an arm or leg.

letters in maps are minuscule and they cannot be enlarged. Buyers should be advised beforehand of this problemm . .

Indispensable for sorting out the details of State Line development in "State Boundaries of America" - this details visually the somewhat happenstance of how raw land became Territores and thence what we now see.
