Looking for info on what camp my German Father-in-law was sent to after his capture in Romania in 1944. And never heard from again. Just want closure.

At least a a generation before Alexander Solzhenitsyn's now classic "Gulag Archipelago"(1973-1977), David Dallin and Boris Nicolaevsky revealed to the outside world the existence of Stalin's slave empire(by the time the dictator died in March 1953 there were at least TWO HUNDRED similar accounts!). Naturally Soviet and pro-Soviet sources tried their best to bury or discredit the book's findings(usually by drawing attention to the author's Menshevik politics), but truth crushed to Earth shall rise again!
It is at least arguable that this book helped promote the US embargo on Siberian crabmeat and other products allegedly produced by slave labour in the Gulag!
