I purchased this book for a friend as I have had a copy for years. It is still one of Dr. Welch's best books and a wealth of useful easy to read information for plant selection for a perennial garden.

This is my favorite gardening book, and the one that gave me the courage to start ripping out the grass and planting ornamentals. I've referred to it so often, the binding is now loose. Welch's vast experience with plants that can stand up to sometimes-brutal Southern conditions is invaluable.
