Subversive Seamster from Taunton Press. Transform tacky bridesmaid g. Want to create a fabulous new wardrobe without paying designer prices? Inspiring projects and savvy tips on how to salvage those tired old clothes.

As far as re-creating genuinely nice, attractive clothing from recycled or thrift store finds is concerned, this is THE best book I have come across thus far. Instructions are generally quite clear, well illustrated-i had only one question at the end of the whole book. I don't pay for a lot of books, but this is one I'm definately going to purchase when I can, both for the great instruction, and because I am just thrilled with the mission of the authors and their contagious fun attitude.

The Apotheoses of Lacspor
The only reason I am giving this book even one star is because of the idea in the beginning on how to make your own dress form. Other than that, this book is without a doubt the worst book on how to create fashionable clothing. I don't know anyone that would wear the outdated and simply ugly ideas this book has put forth. There are several skirts made out of Mens shirts that definitely look like they took a mans shirt, cut off the top, put elastic in and voila you have a skirt (or a really ugly shirt around your waist) I was looking for a book to show me what this title said it would show, not how to turn already ugly things into even uglier things. sorry, but this book really missed the mark

Too many of the projects just scream "I made this out of men's pants!" and "home-made!)
Very Old Chap
This book is filled with excellent ideas that are do-able! Nothing is too hard for the beginner seamstress and there are tips for sewing through out the book. I have not as yet tried any of the ideas in the book, but I am so excited to get started. My first project will definately be the sweatshirt skirt for the office this winter! Inspired me to look at clothing at the thrift store twice ;)

It was ok, a little out of date

This book has truely great ideas about how to recycle items of clothing, where to get those items, all that sort of jazz! The sewing techniques are rather basic (I am an experienced seamstress)but they are well presented. Overall the book is a delight!

Interesting springboard book to set your mindwheels turning. Some projects better than others but all guaranteed to make you look at old garments in a new way.

Nothing new.....not for advanced sewers, too easy.
Thank you!
