Book has lots of information on fun food holidays.

Book has lots of information on fun food holidays. Some days are national and others are just humorous fun. Very entertaining. This book is definitely NOT a health cookbook recipe, as it's loaded in refined sugar, white flour, fat - however, what I think would be fun is to be able to make healthy foods for each of the 365 days on the topic of whatever Yvan has, or at least create a healthier version of her recipes.

I bought this because I liked Yvan during his season of Next Food Network star and thought he should have won. He may be a sweet guy, a good cook, but this is not a good cookbook. There is no organization to speak of, and it's hard to draw a connection between most dates and the recipe they are assigned. There are hardly any photos of the food, and the few that there are pale in comparison to what the average blogger can produce. The short introductions to each recipe are simple and inane.

An example of the scatterbrained nature of the book:
Sep. 23 - White Chocolate Day - White Chocolate Mousse
Sep. 24 - Cherries Jubilee Day - Cherries Jubilee
Sep. 25 - Crab Meat Newburg Day - Crab Newburg Dumplings
Sep. 26 - Pancake Day - Simple Pancakes
Sep. 27 - Corned Beef Hash Day - Sweet Potato Hash
Sep. 28 - Drink Beer Day - Beer Sangria

None of the recipes seem particularly unique, not that I could easily find one if I were looking for it. Some of the days also just tell you to put together different recipes from different days... for instance the Cupcakes from ___ and the Icing from ___.

Not a great buy but I still with Yvan had won over that bassclown Justin. :)

I checked this book out of the library before purchacing it. I find the recipes to be classics with touches of innovation that also makes them modern. After having the library version for two weeks, I decided I needed one to keep.

I never knew there was a national food day for practically all foods!! Total fun!!! Covers everything from National Bloody Mary Day on Jan 1 to National Brownie Day on Dec 8. Fun foods, tasty foods and even the weird ones (there is a National Turkey Neck Day!!!)

The perfect gift for the holidays & all year round. The food is like eating in heaven. The preparation as ABC, & the price as decades ago: affordable for something really excellent.

At first I thought this was a book that captured any national type food things all around the world, but I really think it's more what the author deemed she wanted to label for food for the day. With that in mind, it's cute and fun how she writes the book. I'm hoping Yvan is a woman's name, if not, oops. Sorry.

It's a really nice book and I don't think I paid very much for it otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it. It was brought up in the Meal Makover Mommies podcast and looked like a fun book. Though it has numerous pictures in it, I don't really like whomever the photographer is, whether it is one or multiple photographers. There are many excellent food photos I've seen and these in this book were not. Some of the pics looked old, like they were taken with cheap film. The book, though a paperback book, is actually very nice.

The pages and the format of how each day is written is fun and cute. Too bad the pictures didn't match the rest of the book in quality.

This book is definitely NOT a health cookbook recipe, as it's loaded in refined sugar, white flour, fat -- however, what I think would be fun is to be able to make healthy foods for each of the 365 days on the topic of whatever Yvan has, or at least create a healthier version of her recipes.
This is an interesting idea for a cookbook but the execution is terrible. The writing is is terrible and shows no editing.Pretzel day says that "pretzels came 6 2 be in 18...." Huh? There's a recipe for "curry" and it's spelled "cury." Cheeseball day talks about marinating the moz but there is no such step. Poor.
