Most vegetarian cooking involves many complicated steps and is very time consuming. NOT THIS BOOK! Most recipes are on one page with picture following. The directions are fairly simple using basic ingredients on hand in most kitchens. The meals I've tried are delicious and can be put together fast after a busy day, too.

This recipe book is a great way to begin eating vegetarian meals. It lists the amount of calories, protein, salt, fat and fiber. This breakdown was helpful for me, so I was getting enough daily protein and balanced diet. I ordered this book for my mother-in-law and she is thrilled with the recipes.

The recipes are nice but there's no intro for any of them (like if you don't happen to know what "gratin", "tajine", "clafoutis", or "roulade" is for example, it doesn't tell you what you'll be making, it just gives the recipe and you have to figure it out for yourself.) Also, almost everything is fried and it usually calls for 1/3 to 1 full cup of oil, when a quick spray in the pan would do just as well. The color pictures of the food are great and make me want to try out the recipes. One thing I don't like is the use of weight to measure food - i.e. 14 ounces fresh tagliatelle (what's taglatelle anyway?), 5 ounces green beans, etc. In the same recipe will be normal measurements in cups, tablespoons, etc. Overall this is a pretty nice recipe book mostly because of the nice pictures.

I checked this cookbook out of the library along with 19 other Vegetarian cookbooks. I'm not a Vegetarian but I am looking to eat a meatless meal or two during the week. The recipes in this book were easy to follow, the steps were short, and the ingredients easy to find. Each recipes has a gorgeous color picture that looks appetizing. The best part for me was the way the nutritional facts were listed at the bottom of each recipe, not only in grams but the percentage as well. I am definitely going to purchase this cookbook.

I have flipped through dozens of Vegetarian cookbooks in Barnes and Noble before making my choice. I've considered the overall recipes as well as the individual ingredients, binding, design, organization, clarity, and of course, the photographs! There are only 1 or 2 other books that can attempt to compete with this one. And still, for me, this one would be the winner on every level. It has only one recipe per (left) page, clearly listing ingredients, preparation, and nutritional facts, and fantastic corresponding closeup photograph on the opposite (right) page. The recipes are mouth-watering and plenty. And Amazon definitely beats everyone's prices!!! I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
