A wonderful "old school" book on roasting and carving with some additional traditional thoughts on etiquette and family dining. Anyone who was also a fan will find this book by Clarissa Dickson Wright a 'must have'. Clarissa and Johnny have a very readable, tongue in cheek (no pun intended) style and a are mine of good information and techniques. I always look to improve my carving skills and they have presented very easy to follow diagrams.

What a delightful old school book, and who would think we would ever see Clarissa looking "born to the manor". I no longer cook for crowds but it will be a welcome present together with some fine Sheffield carving tools from ebay for a budding host and hostess couple.

A wonderful little book although I am puzzled by the reviewer mentioning "Brown Sugar Meatloaf," as that recipe is not mentioned in my hard cover version. Clarissa and Johnny have a very readable, tongue in cheek (no pun intended) style and a are mine of good information and techniques. I always look to improve my carving skills and they have presented very easy to follow diagrams. Now if I could just afford to buy some of the cuts of meat they recommend.

What could be better than an English Sunday Roast? Trumps hamburgers and fries any time! Clarissa is a character. Too bad she is no loner of this earth but she left a lasting legacy. love her!

This is a great book, beautifully photographed, nice recipes for a perfect Sunday lunch. This is a tradition we all need to go back to. I love European cookbooks because they are such a pleasure to read, this one does not disappoint!

Most of this information was known by my mother and grandmothers, but not really by me. I was a consumer, but had no practical knowledge of producing these meals. I read it cover to cover.
The Two Fat Ladies were a favorite of mine for many years. I am sorry they are both gone now. This book by Clarrisa is very
good.
