Most volumes contained five (although a considerable minority consisted of three, four, or six) current best-selling novels and nonfiction books which were abridged (or "condensed") specifically for Reader's Digest.

My grandmother purchased this when I first married. My daughter has many memories of looking through it while we would be in the kitchen together. Now she has her own copy to use while in the kitchen with her children.

I have had this book for so many years and it is dog eared,so this will be my second copy. The recipes all work, very unusual International dishes and American specialties in one book. There are three sections, explanation of different foods, recipes by the months and techniques and basic core recipes. Color plates in the food section, photos throughout the recipes section, line drawings in techniques section. You will enjoy this addition to your cookbook collection.

This is a great cookbook. With the bulk of its recipes divided into twelve chapters to highlight seasonal menu options for each month of the year, Creative Cooking serves up a fair number of recipes that are both challenging and uncommon for the casual cook. You'll occasionally stumble over some ingredients that your less adventurous dinner guests might not approve of - calf brains, for example - but there's enough variety within these pages for you to plan a menu that everyone will like.

This is my favorite cookbook! For someone who is frist starting out this is IDEAL! The first pages show you all kinds of veg, fruit, fish, poultry and cuts of meat and then there are 12 months of cooking, followed by baking, canning, and confectionary, plus how long to cook certain cuts of meat. I actually cooked my way halfway through this book and loved every minute of it. The recipes go from quick and simple, to elegant and fancy. No cook should be without this book!

I had this book when I first started to cook back in the 70's.....I lost it in one of my moves. I thought it was gone forever until I searched Amazon for it! I cannot wait to get it and begin to relive the wonderful recipes I remember and I am sure it will bring back many fond memories.
