This is not actually the original novel. It's Douglas Adams reading excerpts from each of the novels in the series recorded live at the Almeida Theatre in London before an invited audience. I'd suggest it for the person that already knows all the books in the series and wants to complete their collection. Since it's just the really good bits, it's particularly suited for those times in the car when you're sitting in traffic, your sense of humor is just about nonexistent and you really, really need a good laugh.

I have to salute Amazon for its commitment to the works of Douglas Adams. You can get the original BBC Radio productions of the story on Audible. You can get all the books, unabridged, read by Douglas Adams on Audible. Even the newly published 6th book, And Another Thing, written by Eoin Colfer and narrated by Simon Jones, is now available on Audible. Amazon has the movie in several formats. All of those offerings are first rate and I enjoy them often. They even have a DVD that seems to be the BBC television production. I have not seen it. I don’t know what part of the story it covers but it is mentioned to illustrate the wide collection of HGTTG available at Amazon. Good on ya!

Always great.

I've always loved this particular iteration of HHGG and am glad to have found the item on Amazon finally. Taking disparate elements from the first three(?) books and using their common elements to craft an hour-or-so-long narrative from it, Adams takes the already-spectacular content and ups the ante.

This is a book I constantly go back to. It's almost a comfort, I know the characters so well. Very entertaining, funny and to stretch a bit...thoughtfull. You may learn nothing from it, (if you do, let me know) but it may keep you busy for a while.

I MUST admit that i have never read something as intriguingly and mindbogginly funny as the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. It's so intense that you won't stop reading before you've turned the last page.... and then you'll probably wanna start all over again Klaus Hougesen, Denamrk
