Without Apology book. This exploration of the growth of the current liberal branch of the Religious Society of Friends is traced from the sects earliest days through the stories of the Friends that, often unintentionally, carried and wove those threads together. Though sometimes it comes off as a little defensive in tone, it’s a positive deep and interconnected story that is well worth reading.

Chuck Fager is well-known to Quakers and here he takes part in the battle between the evangelicalists and the universalists coming down solidly in the middle as a Christian liberal in the line of original Quakerism.
In Without Apology, Chuck Fager brings the wit that filled his widely-read book Quakers Are Funny to the serious task of a distinctive, optimistic portrait of the spiritual essence and bright prospects of liberal Quakerism. Drawing on his long experience of reporting on Quakerism in A Friendly Letter, Chuck describes the key issues facing vital religious movements on the brink of the new millenium, and shows how liberal Quakerism is particularly equipped to meet them.
