I was captivated from the first. The very human characters in both novellas draw you right in. Some of the conflicts are standard, but the story has you pulling for Jayne and Ben (Desert Rose) and Audrey and Paul (Bluegrass Easter). Added joke: Audrey Lupine ("lupine" has to do with wolves) raises sheep for yarn! And she's rather OCD, which combined with a seven and three-quarters girl belonging to a widower who lives next door, makes for some hilarious interactions.

Though I am giving this book a rating of three, but it's worth the buy to read the first story.

Desert Rose:
This was a pretty cute story. At only 120 pages, the romance had to go pretty fast. Jayne Rose had given up on her dream to be a landscape designer, wife, and mother a long time ago Her gaudy looking glasses, limp, scars, and mistreatment in school was enough to send any man running. In fact, her flower business was even failing. It was only a matter of time before she'd have to say goodbye to everything.

But one day, a handsome window shopper, Ben Cummings, walked into her shop. He seemed to become a constant companion from that day forward. Ben had a secret, and Jayne was not one to keep such a secret from!

The book was sweet and interesting. I did get annoyed at how Jayne treated Ben at times. I thought she blew the revealing of his secret way out of proportion. When he showed her the original plans for his garden, I think she went way overboard as well. I never did get why she got so angry...But it was still a very sweet story and well worth the read! My rating: FOUR

Bluegrass Easter:

This book is about a librarian who owns four lovely Ewes and a veterinarian on sabbatical who is widowed and has a daughter. The story started out wonderfully. Lilly, the little girl, was being rather...well, she was acting like a child in the library. She was the cutest part of this story. Even the scene when Audry found out the truth about how many lambs she's going to soon have was funny. But I quit reading this story about thirty pages till the end because it just got boring. I didn't see any romance in it and couldn't imagine things getting better... My rating: TWO

EASTER PROMISES, two great stories in one book.

DESERT ROSE, by Lois Richer
The Desert Rose was a cute and unique idea for a story. Many scenarios tend to play out in story after story but for me, I have yet to read such a storyline as this. It was refreshing and well written.

BLUEGRASS EASTER, by Allie Pleiter
As always, Allie does not disappoint with her humor. Really, she has some of the greatest lines, always bringing a smile to my face or a chuckle from my lips. I loved Paul's story, and how healing occurred in his life. Loved the transformation of Audrey, and how though she didn't seem to be a "kid" person, was able to connect with Lily, helping to bring her and Paul together.
