Usually, 9 year old boys are of little interest to me; however, this book was recommended. I found myself in the time of my youth, with people I felt I knew. The day was many years ago, but the characters were warm and real and well worth meeting. Even though the events were colored by nostalgia, they were carefully drawn and well worth reading.

My mother and her family were from Morgan County, KY. We visited briefly when I was a child but spent most of our time at family reunions in Somerset,(actually Poplarville) KY, where my father was from. I have always wanted to go back to Morgan County - my mother's grandmother was a Redwine - a city in Morgan Co. My family's homestead was closer to Lenox. I have bought Mr. Callahan's book and hope it takes me to this place that I long to visit. Maybe the book will be the inspiration that actually gets me there. As a former Language Arts teacher and principal, I am excited about the comments in the reviews. I will say adieu tonight to hurry and begin reading this book on my Kindle!

Read Tim's book if you want to smile, laugh, cry, and share sections of the book with others. I felt like I was back in western Kentucky with my family and grandparents, even though the book is set in eastern Kentucky. Geography is not important. Love and friendship carry the day. I will never read John 3:16 the same again!

I loved this book. I am 65 years old and I have lived in Kentucky 58 of those years. I can relate to Timmy and the love he has for his grandparents. When I read this book, the details were so awesome that it was like I was right there while it was happening. I hope all elementary school children will read this. Mr. Callahan is an awesome writer.
