The single best book I've read on teaching. I teach teachers and preachers, so I've read a lot of books. This is life changing. Even if it just covered the first of the 7 laws, it would be life changing. No other book has improved my teaching even a fraction of what this book has. Please, for your students, read this.

From the beginning of reading this book, the Spirit of God stirred my heart with deeper desperation to know God more and make Him known in a powerful way. Many times the Spirit had me on my face crying out in repentance and asking for revival in my life and in His church. I heartily encourage everyone to read it, but even more to practice what is written in. I'm about to start a teaching/preaching with program with YWAM and I'm so excited to start putting this into practice! God is glorified through this book and it helps to glorify God even more in your life by teaching others to love Him more!

You probably DO have the time to read this, because it's such a good use of time, but if you honestly don't have time to read the whole thing, I encourage you to at least memorize the law of the learner, which are first easy to memorize in the acronym "LEARNER" that is the first letter of these words:
Learner
Expectation
Application
Retention
Need
Equipping
Revival

And here the heart of each of those laws:
1. The essence of the Law of the Learner is these three words: “Cause to learn.” The teacher should accept the responsibility of causing the student to learn. p. 38

2. The essence of the Law of Expectation is these three words: “Expect the best.” The teacher should influence his students’ learning and behavior by adjusting expectations. p. 105

3. The essence of the Law of Application is these four words: “Apply for life change.” The teacher should always teach for the purpose of life change. p. 161

4. The essence of the Law of Retention is these three words: “Master the minimum.” The teacher should enable all students to enjoy maximum mastery of the Irreducible minimum. p. 229

5. The essence of the Law of Need is these three words: “Build the need.” The teacher should build the need before teaching the content. (p. 303)
6. The essence of the Law of Equipping is these three words: “Equip for service.” The teacher should train students for a life of service and edification. (p. 375).

7. The essence of the Law of Revival is these three words: “Revive the heart.” The teacher should encourage an ongoing personal revival in students’ lives. (p. 445)

Read and be equipped to glorify our great and mighty God and build his kingdom!

In the Seven Laws of the Learner, you are looking at teaching in reaching every single student that is in front of you. If you have reached all of the students but one, you still have failed. Ideas, examples, prayer is all brought into this book to help you do an excellent job at making your students enjoy. Presents the material in a manner that you will immediately understand how to go about your next teaching assignment. And to reach each student may take some time out of the classroom to understand the student you are not reaching. Highly recommend.

This little book has caused a paradigm shift in my out look as a learner as well as teacher in the whole area of motive-incentive aspects on the educational process. As teachers it is our responsibility to enable students "to know", to be", & "to do" in order to effect reception in the desired content, as well as indeed to see change in character and the desired conduct of the student! Wilkinson's book will indeed help equip you as a teacher as well as a learner yourself to profoundly impact the next generation! - MLF, B.A., Th.M.

Awesome book! As ususal, Bruce Wilkinson provides profound insight into a topic that is not easy to understand. Most teachers that I know do not approach the subject of teaching or the learners as is told by this book. Great read and reference book. A must for any teacher.

This book is a must have for every teacher or communicator! It reignited hope that that teaching has the power to make an incredible difference, then goes on to explain how these results are achieved. It's principles could unlock the potential in every educator/communicator to truly engage their students/audience in a transformational way. I have no doubt these concepts could be a game changer for our school systems, inspire organizations and revolutionize our churches.
Bruce Wilkinson was a student of Howard Hendricks at Dallas Theological Seminary. Mr. Wilkinson must have taken good notes from Professor Hendricks' class because he presents what Professor Hendricks taught. Personally, I prefer from the author himself in "The 7 Laws of the Teacher" by Dr. Hendricks.
